Eric Osorio is a skilled VR/AR/XR developer with a demonstrated history of creating professional level software. Eric’s belief in taking personal responsibility for solving problems and taking change into his own hands has led him to many accomplishments. He directed the Makerspace Lab XR department run by Engineering Fundamentals and helped shape the department into a software development service offered to student and faculty projects at Embry-Riddle. He also ran the Dean of Engineering’s VR lab supported by Gulfstream and Northrop Grumman. During his internship at TECHFIT Digital Surgery, he planned and created an augmented reality app and server to help doctors and engineers with the implant design validation process. The app let users load and display 3D models of the patient’s MRI scans, cutting guides, and implants on the patient. His app was chosen for further development over a competing app created by a software team from the parent company. He was also a member of the WiDE Lab group at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, where he was developing an augmented reality mobile app to allow students and researchers to see the invisible. Eric was named Embry-Riddle Engineering Fundamentals Student of the Year, 2018. In December 2019, he received his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering with a specialization in Robotic Systems Design and a Minor in Applied Mathematics.

Ken completed a 3-semester rotation at Delta Air Lines in Propulsion Engineering working with Auxiliary Power Units, GE CF6 and the PW2000 engines, respectively. He was an active member and former President of the African Students Association at Embry Riddle Aeronautical University, Daytona Beach, Florida, and was also a member of the ERAU Student Government Association (SGA) Finance Board. Ken is currently a senior at Embry Riddle Aeronautical University (ERAU), Daytona Beach, Florida majoring in Mechanical Engineering with a concentration in High-Performance Vehicles. FAA Private Pilot License fixed-wing Day/Night VFR. When “asked why VR” Ken says “To create understanding through wonder. I believe this would help lots of kids understand science through visual and tactile experiences.”

Caila DeAbreu is an Educator for Uplift Education (International Baccalaureate Charter Preparatory School) in Dallas Texas. She graduated from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University with an undergraduate degree in Engineering Physics (Concentration: Space Systems), and an Applied Mathematics minor. Throughout her academic career, she was invested in outreach projects and research with her professors and peers. She is the founder and former President of Embry-Riddle’s Society of Black Physicists. She collaborated with officers to continue building partnerships with organizations (National Society of Black Engineers/McNair Scholars/ Student Government Association) to increase science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) enthusiasm to K-12 Schools. She also collaborated with officers to continue building partnerships with Physical Science Department to provide “Lecture Series” and research opportunities. During Caila’s academic career at Embry-Riddle, she was a research intern at the Laboratory of Solar-Magnetosphere and sorted KHW events based on the prevailing Interplanetary Magnetic Field orientation, utilizing an OMNI database. Caila’s research at the National High Magnetic field laboratory involved assisting in the development of engineering/design ideas regarding superconducting magnet system’s improvement by creating models using Opera 15 (Electromagnetic Simulation Software). She also assisted in the development of a Microsoft Access conductor database for building high field magnets for scientists and engineers at the National High Magnetic Field Laboratory to select appropriate materials which enable resistive and pulse magnets to safely achieve the desired magnetic field. Caila is a McNair Scholar and published the following research “Material Database for Resistive and Pulse Magnets” with McNair Scholars Research Journal. While participating in research and outreach at the National High Magnetic Field Laboratory, she cultivated a passion to provide equitable education and pursued her Masters of Science in Educational Studies/Secondary Education-Urban Teachers at John Hopkins University, so that she could better serve the youth in our country in support of STEM. Caila DeAbreu joined XR Systems LLC so that she could be a part of a passionate team that actively strives to be the change that they wish to see in progressive equitable education.
